The Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias of the State of New York deplores the cowardly terrorist acts of September 11, 2001.
The attacks on the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Virginia and the hijacking of the four airliners have resulted in the loss of many innocent lives and disrupted our daily routines. Many of our members may have lost loved ones in the resulting carnage.
The officers and members of the Grand Lodge of New York join me in extending our heartfelt and sincere condolences to the families suffering the loss of family members or friends.
In memory of the victims of the September 11, 2001 acts of aggression, I, Kenneth Danker, Grand Chancellor of the Knights of Pythias, Domain of New York, do proclaim a period of mourning to continue for thirty days from the reading of this proclamation and direct that, with appropriate ceremonies, the charter of each subordinate lodge and Grand Lodge be draped in remembrance of our loved ones, friends and neighbors.
The Grand Lodge has established an emergency fund for those wishing to make contributions to the victims and their families. All Lodges, Districts and members are encouraged to direct their contributions to the GRAND LODGE K. of P. SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 RELIEF FUND. Send donations to Grand Lodge Knights of Pythias, 99 Madison Avenue, 6th Floor, New York, NY 10016.
Given under my hand and under the great seal of the Grand Lodge and attested by the Grand Secretary thereof, on this thirteenth day of September, two thousand one, and Pythian Period CXXXVIII.
